IB Shout Out: Oct. 2016

The following educators were caught conducting unique and engaging activities with their students:

  • IB Shout Out , repeat offender, Ms. Jones. Her mathematics students were actively engaged in using algebra tiles to model expressions. They had to decide if two expressions were equivalent or not and justify their reasoning.

  • Ms. Glass' mathematics students were actively engaged in identifying the 3-D figure in their group then determining the formula needed to find the volume for their object. Once they identified the object and volume formula, they were to determine the dimensions needed to find the volume. Prior to this portion of the activity, they had to determine which dimensions they could easily determine just looking at their object. Once they found the volume, they had to create a real-world mathematical problem based on their object and it's volume.
